I Can't Help Loving You

One of the hardest parts of foster care for me is the transition. I've always believed that although the kids are with us temporarily, I should love them like they'll never leave.
It's like playing in the snow without gloves.
It sometimes hurts. But better me than them.
As I'm excited to see a family reunited it promises a whole in mine.
I've decided to keep on at one hundred percent instead of pulling away.
This time I'm in for some frostbite.

Oh my goodness... what a painful calling. But so needed. Some of my kids had good foster moms but one group was sorely neglected (not fed) due to a drug addict foster mom. Such a shame. The worker said that they had done a great injustice to that group and they may have been better off in their birth home. So, please know how important what you do is.

Hard. Don't know how you do it.

I understand what you mean - from one holey heart to another.

It's still not a mistake.
You're my hero.

I can now say, "Been there. Done that. Hated it. Would do it again in a heartbeat." Ditto on the hero part.

One of the reasons we want to "only" adopt. I just don't know if we could handle the pain that goes with the territory.

I'll be praying for you and your family.

What a blessing and positive impact you have been to those children!

There is much sacrifice when you love... but it is so worth it.

Just been through it! Thanks for sharing so openly. We just did our first adoption handover for our foster son. So nice to see him happily settled in a 'forever family' but soooooo hard to let him go! We have our first ever two foster kids arriving back on Wed. to stay with us for a few months. Nice to see them again - sad that we have to and that it didn't work out sending them home! Talk about your roller coaster rides!! Who needs the amusement park? Just come visit our home for awhile!! LOL! Well done to all you do. I hope I can do it for as long as you have! Ditto on the hero! :o)
