AnnaClaire has been attending our local community college for the last few semesters. She's done well, but recently she's felt that God was calling her to attend a Bible college. Her heart has been challenged to go into missionary work since we studied Sonlight's countries around the world in her 10th grade. In homeschool the study of geography can lead your children to follow God's heart for their life!!
She has applied to a Bible College in our state and got her acceptance letter this week! She is super excited which is no small thing for her. AnnaClaire was in her early teens when she came to us and she was READY for security in her life. She held on tight to us and blossomed in the close relationships. She said many many times that she would never leave our house and we just smiled and hugged her. Now she's ready to go and live 4 hours from us. Which proves that Beatles's song..."All you need is love", and well - some Jesus and time and perseverance and that's all she needs .

The Long Haul
Homeschooling has been a checkered career around here. My two homemade daughters, Kirsten and Kara, attended public school -Kindergarden through High School. Another child was asked to leave public school (don't ask) and thus began our adventure into homeschooling. Some of the kids have been been half home educated and half through the schools. One year in October I woke up and decided that four of the kids would enroll back in school that day.
But AnnaClaire and Grace are our first two homeschool graduates. We hung in there together and made it through. Never once did public school look appealing (you know on those days when everyone hates math) or was considered for a moment as an option. The girls and I have read through World History, Eastern Hemisphere Countries and American History (thank you Sonlight!) and we talk about our favorite missionary stories and real life heros and heroines and never have I learned so much or loved so much. I know what my girls think and they know what I value and it has been good. I'm excited to launch these two wonderful girls into adulthood!

Teach Me!
Is anyone else getting excited about school starting?
I love the summer and wish the lazy days would never end......but then there's the Sonlight Curriculum for this year sitting on the shelf waiting for us and we want it!! Never before have we loved schooling like we have since using Sonlight. The kids look at the books they're going to be reading and imagine the people they will get to know and what their lives are about. And that's what makes Sonlight so awesome. History isn't just facts with this curriculum, it's people and missionaries and their thoughts and struggles. It's a very personal diary of a time in the past.
I found this on the classroom blackboard.
Thanks Sonlight!!
