It's Your Birthday

A few days ago our family celebrated two birthdays - my Dad who is 93 and my granddaughter Abby (his great granddaughter) who turned 2.
The presents ranged from princess dishes and sheet sets to an iphone 6 car docker. (Yes, my Dad at 93 is that cool) There was a beautiful Barbie cake for Abby and a delicious Dairy Queen ice cream cake for him.  I sat and thought about the things he had seen in his life and what the future would hold for her. Between the two there are many years and a love that spans them sweetly.

Farewell You Annoying Thing You

Today is Emma's and Samuel's birthday and this should be all about them and how much I love them, blah, blah, blah.

But more importantly, this is car seat liberation day.  I've had a car seat in my car for the better part of 33 years and today Samuel turns 8 and I'm done with them.

Forever!!

This of course does not include my grandchildren who I will happily buckle up for the next 33 years.

Always Our Little Girl

AnnaClaire turned 19 this week and didn't like the feeling of being so solidly an adult.  She's doing all the adult things - bought her own car, has a good job, going to college full time- but it's that growing up thing that scares her.
So, she ordered a "princess birthday" complete with crown and scepter and watched the movie Tangled with her brothers and sisters for the evening.
Who says kids are growing up too fast these days?  Not around here!
