Sometimes the best conversations happen over breakfast. While my granddaughter Scarlett was enjoying her Fruit Loops this morning she told me about her best friend Benjamin at school and Julia at church. She also talked about the mean boy at school who called her a cry baby at recess. We agreed that it's hard when people call you names and how much we like our friends that make us laugh. Coffee and Scarlett were the perfect start to my day.
Just another day or two at the beach and then we all head home. Cousins growing up with the same memories of our time together
.....a tiny perfect place in the middle of regular life.
The kids (and maybe me just a tiny bit) have been missing Jack. We received news over the last month that he was adjusting well to life in the city and Kara said that he and Scarlett had become great friends. Jack has learned to sit still so that Scarlett can wrap him in blankets and dress him in clothes.
Everyone was excited to see Jack today when Kara came for a visit. He was happy to see us as well, but when he left for home, we had no doubt that he was loved.
And Baltimore gets to enjoy his endless barking.
I dropped in last week to visit my granddaughter Scarlett. She took one look at me and hid under a table. I didn't take it personal. I did however start working on a plan to once again win her affections.
What did I come up with?
Fruit Loops. I met her and my daughter at Ikea today and handed her a pink bag (the pink part was important) with a box of this sugar drenched cereal. (The sugar was also intricate to the plan as her mother is one of those people who believe that children should eat healthy food - I never raised her to be that way, but kids do what they want.)
And Scarlett said, "I love you Grandma Kate".
YES!!
The holiday is over and it's post quiet here. The turkey is now sitting in a zip lock bag waiting to be a sandwich.
We had much to be thankful for including the news that Kirsten is beginning to feel a little better each day as the malaria symptoms are subsiding. Thank you for your prayers - We have seen God do mighty things as He hears the cries of His people.
We also celebrated our granddaughter Scarlett's 1st birthday and the news that she will have another brother or sister this summer!
And our last good news is that our 3 year old is sleeping in past 6am. Whooo Hooo!
